When we first launched BiteMe In, our focus was strictly on solving the core challenges of restaurant reservations within the Shopify ecosystem. We wanted to make sure that managing tables and timing was as seamless as managing any other inventory on your store. However, as we spoke with more of you, we realized that modern dining is moving far beyond just booking a seat at a table. You told us about your holiday pop-ups, your exclusive five-course tasting menus, and the workshops you host that require more than just a simple name and time slot.
That feedback is exactly what led us to develop our new Dining Experiences feature. This isn’t just a separate module but a deep integration that allows you to treat a reservation like a ticketed event. By linking your reservations directly to Shopify products, you can now sell access to special nights, secure pre-payments for set menus, and manage limited-capacity events with the same ease you manage your regular nightly service. It effectively turns your restaurant into a venue that can handle diverse types of bookings without switching between multiple platforms.
We are particularly excited about how this helps merchants diversify their revenue streams. Whether it is a Valentine’s Day special or a weekly chef’s table, having the ability to collect payment upfront or offer specialized menus helps reduce the risk of no-shows even further than our standard deposit system. It gives your guests a premium experience from the moment they land on your site, knowing they have secured a spot for something truly unique.
It is important to note that development on this feature is very much ongoing. We are currently in the phase of refining the UI to make the product-to-reservation linking even more intuitive and ensuring the reporting is as granular as you need it to be. Many of the specific tweaks we are making right now come directly from the early testing phase with a handful of restaurant partners who reached out with very specific needs.
We believe that building in public and building for our merchants is the only way to create tools that actually work in a high-pressure kitchen or front-of-house environment.
